What a GREAT thing God is doing these days here at First Baptist Church of Winnebago! As we have journeyed through Ephesian Excursion, called Immeasurable, our calling and conduct, our walk and our talk has broken into a stride of Biblical and Epic proportions... The New Thing the Lord is doing - He is Transforming us like it Romans 12 1-2 tells us: "No longer conform to this worlds, BUT be transformed by the renewing your mind". One of those ways is taking the adage "if you don't mind it don't matter". God has flipped us right side up to mind and to live lives that matter! Ephesians is one of those books that takes you to spiritual mountain top of biblical calling and conduct, and sends you a journey of being a Christian first and foremost before anything else. Paul, was a man who God uses to help us understand the road of redemption and reformation from a person who has been made new in Christ, and now is called into a life that is light in the dark world... that does mean tough issues that face our current of culture today are dealt with, as well as our individual need of surrender and servanthood...and the BEST part is Jesus is our shepherd, caring for us as we live out the Christian life and love one another in community!
Hello and Welcome to Our Website,
I am Pastor Daren and I am certainly glad you popped in to check things out and see what is going on at First Baptist Church in Winnebago. Often when someone wants to learn more about a place to worship and belong in community and Christ; they want to know a little bit about the pastor that congregation. I have been a pastor since May of 2011, and have over 15 years of church leadership and ministry experience. My wife Cameron of 17 years and our four Children (3 boys and 1 daughter) from teens to ten... what an energetic blessing and exciting home of love and craziness the Lord has given us. And just on a personal note: if you happen to see a bald, bearded guy riding a motorcycle in the Winnebago are, it is a good chance you have seen the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winnebago out and about in the community taking the truth in love to those who need it.
When I was first called to Winnebago, MN in August of 2016, an overwhelming and humbling experience, a sense of purpose and promise brought peace and possibility to this next step in the journey of walking with Jesus. Four statements sum up the Spirit's fire and Christ's call on my life and His plan for being the pastor of this Faith in Jesus, Bible centered, Community Church that I have the privilege of teaching, caring, and loving:
Going Wide in the Community to connect people with Christ
Staying Long in Faith’s Fellowship with Love and Grace
Reaching High through Simple Service and Selfless Sacrifice
Digging Deep in God’s Word applying it in Everyday Life
I hope to see you some Sunday morning, know that if you are part of this community or live near it in any of the area - you are being prayed for and thought of by the Lord and by us. Someday soon maybe I will get the awesome chance to meet you and introduce you to my friend and Savior, Jesus.
God Bless You!
Pastor Daren Lee Barnett
Trusting totally in the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, we believe in the following biblical teachings, practices, and principles:
1. Preeminence of Christ as our Divine Lord and Savior;
2. Supreme authority of the Bible as the inspired word of God, and its sufficiency as our only rule of faith and practice;
3. Right of private interpretation and the competency of the individual in direct approach to God
4. Support Religious Freedom
5. Born Again church membership (John 3:3)
6. Biblical definition of marriage; being between a man and a women (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:21-25, Matthew 19:5)
7. Believer's baptism by Immersion in obedience to the command of Christ (Mathew 3:15-16);
8. Autonomy of the local church and working together in association for the sake of the Gospel
9. Church government vested in members of the congregation who reserve the formation of basic church policy
10. Spiritual unity of all believers (John 17:21-23);
11. Missions and Evangelism in obedience to the Great Commission of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20);
The purpose of this church shall be the advancement of the kingdom of Jesus Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It shall seek to attain this through prayer, study of the word of God, public worship, the preaching of the gospel, consistent Christian living, evangelism, missions, and Christian education.
Having been led by the Spirit of God, we affirm our belief in Jesus Crist, as Lord and Savior.
We dedicate ourselves to His service, and unite with one another in this covenant
We commit ourselves to continued growth as Christians through prayer, Bible study and worship, and the observacnce of the ordinances of Baptism and Communion.
We will strive for attitudes and actions that reflect God's Spirit working through us.
We will love one another, pray for one another, and help one another to think, speak and act as Christians.
We will share each other's joys, and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other's burdens and sorrows.
We pledge to give regularly of ourselves and our resources to the support of our church and its ministry.
As members of this community of faith, we commit ourselves to reach out to the world with the gospel.
We will strive for justice, freedom, dignity and peace.
In all that we do, we will seek to live to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Our next sermon series - Doctrines of Demons that Believers Buy: Discipling Discernment
1Timothy 4:1 "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." Since we know that God's Word is right and true - then it is obvious that the ability to understand, realize, and even prevent bad teaching and promote true teaching is needed... in this day and age it is even more necessary to know Truth and tell when it is not being shared... that is the point of the study and the preparation for keeping the faith in a current of culture flowing away from the biblical truth...

First Baptist Church is very strong in mission work both at home and abroad. We really are outstanding in our support.
We, as well as some of the other Winnebago churches, support the "meals on wheels" program. This amounts to delivering a hot noon meal to shut-ins which is fully appreciated.
Other areas ministry are the contributions of the members to enhance the worship service and the church itself.
We have one women's circle. These women meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m.
The Women's Circle has a work meeting in January at the church. The purpose is to do our project work for the White Cross Mission quota. All women are welcome to attend.
The women of the church have a quilting ministry, making quilts that go to Mexico. They sew the 4th Wednesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Bring your sewing machine and join us.
We also have a prayer chain. The prayer chain is used to contact church members in the prayer chain pertaining to concerns of almost any kind of our church members and friends.
Additional dates to remember for the Women's circle is in the Events section.
The fellowship at First Baptist Church is outstanding. We are a caring congregation, conscious of members, friends, and community needs. We extend an invitation to anyone who would care to fellowship with us.
During the year we have several pot lucks. This gives a great opportunity to visit with each other and taste the efforts of the outstanding cooks of the church.
